The future's bright, the future's Pink!

Those who have read up on ITIL will no doubt be familiar with Pink Elephant as their consultants have been involved with writing both the v2 and v3 refresh; in fact, their claim as the world leader in IT Service Management probably isn't far wrong!

But did you know that this month they launched a free member's area which features archives full of quality articles, web casts and their new pinkcasts (podcasts)?

I didn't! I've only watched one web cast, but I've listened to all the pinkcasts, and dipped in to some of the articles (some of which I have seen previously) so far; yet I must say it's good introductory stuff!

If you're into ITIL and you haven't already signed up for a free account, then do so. That's right, leave this page and do it now! You won't regret it :)

Hi ITIL Imp

I went to the HITS show this year in London. I apporached the 'Pink' stand but the people on there totally ignored me or couldn't be bothered speaking to me when they did - they dismissed me (perhaps because I look young for my age).

Anyway I was unable to chat with them effectively. Little did they know I am driving ITIL in my company. I have a bad view of them now.

Hi Maz,
I didn´t get chance to go to the HITS show this year and was rather concerned to see the reaction you received from the people manning the PINK stand. As you can see, so is Caroline (thanks for posting Caroline). Please do take her up on the offer for further feedback so that in future people receive a better reception. It certainly isn´t fitting for a company who claim to be world class in implementing service management to have awful customer service on their own stand!

Hi Maz,

I thought you'd be interested to know that I did a little experiment when I went along to the itSMF 2006 Conference this year in relation to the Pink Elephant stand.

I approached their stand and those manning it were chatting with one another - no acknowledgement of my presence at this point.

I then started picking up a couple of leaflets and tried to make eye contact with them still no interest.

I next started leafing through a magazine they had on their stand - again, no acknowledgment at all.

At this point I was clearly not impressed and contemplated just walking off.

Once I was rude enough to interrupt their conversation (and why should I be made to feel rude as the guest to the stand?) one of them (Caroline as it happens) was indeed helpful.

As I too apparently look younger than my years it could be as you say. Either way, I think some improvement is needed in their booth customer facing. Yes there is a balance to knowing when to approach someone and knowing when they want to be left alone; in my view they just plain got it wrong. Sadly, a thumbs down from me on this occasion.

I am very sorry to hear your comments regarding your visit to our stand at the ITSMF conference this year. Firstly I must apologise if you felt you were ignored as I can I assure you - that this is never our intention. Secondly that we do not discriminate who we talk to on the basis of age. I am disappointed that we have given this impression as it most definitely is not the image we are striving for. If you would like a personal apology - I am more than happy to contact you directly to discuss further.

Kind Regards
